ALAMOSA — The Alamosa Police Department has received reports of three different robberies over the past three weeks and is seeking the public’s help to solve these crimes.

The first incident occurred on December 28, 2017 at 7:54 p.m. when two subjects entered Maurices, located at 3304 Clark St. in Alamosa. The subjects brandished a weapon and demanded the money from employees. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subjects fled the area without being located at that time.  

On January 15, at 5:01 p.m., two subjects entered Angel Nails, located at 2431 Main St., also brandishing a weapon and demanding money from the employee. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the employee, the two subjects fled the area without being located at that time.  

The third incident took place on January 16, at 8:33 p.m. when a subject entered the Safeway fuel station at 1301 Main St. in Alamosa. Upon approaching the employee, the subject brandished a weapon demanding money from the employee. Upon receiving the undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area and was not located at that time.  

The Alamosa Police Department is asking for assistance from community members in locating those responsible for these incidents and in preventing or solving future incidents. Police department staff is asking citizens to be vigilant when out in the community and report any suspicious persons or incidents.  
Citizens are also asked to pay attention to those around them while driving or while entering or exiting businesses.  

“We can’t do this alone and are asking for help from the community,” said Alamosa Police Chief Duane Oakes. “Officers working at the times of these incidents can’t predict these types of crimes and do their best to be visible within our community, but can’t be everywhere at all times, so we are asking that citizens become our eyes and ears.”

Chief Oakes wants to remind business owners and managers that the City of Alamosa offers a technology grant to assist businesses in upgrading or installing surveillance systems in their businesses. The city will assist businesses by awarding grants up to $300 to businesses who meet the criteria of the grant. As of Wednesday, officers from the Alamosa Police Department are following up on leads from all three cases and are hoping to identify those responsible.
