Polinario Epifanio Lucero, 90

Antonito resident Polinario Epifanio Lucero, 90, passed away December 4, 2017 in his home. Polinario was welcomed into the world on May 7, 1927 in Ortiz, Colorado, the son of Epifanio Lucero and Anna Maria Duran Lucero. Polinario served in the United States Army and was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion Post #4849.He was an educator and an administrator with his PHD. Polinario was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed going 4-wheeling, raising cows and spending time with all his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughters Linda (Jim) Montoya of Alamosa, CO; Veronica (Ted) Lucero-Velasquez of San Rafael, CO; Cindy (John) Haberman of La Junta, CO; sons Josef (Lena) Lucero of Alamosa, CO; Paul (Brenda) Lucero of Washington' Johnny (Sandra) Lucero of Bountiful, CO; Franz (Rose) Lucero of Antonito, CO; Michael (Marie) Lucero of Ortiz, CO; 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister Precedes Duran of Denver, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Polinario was preceded in death by his parents Epifanio Lucero and Anna Maria Duran, wife Anna Maria Lucero, daughter Janet Lucero-Sisneros, sisters Josephine Trujillo, Connie Trujillo, Esther Duran and Isabelle Sanchez.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Ortiz Cemetery with full military honors. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romeo Funeral Home of Antonito.
