SAN LUIS VALLEY — On May 24, Governor Jared Polis visited with local first responders in recognition of their work, efforts, and contribution toward the SLV Youth Justice League project.

This project, and a few others under the SLV First Responders Outreach Unit and the SLV RETAC, is supported by the Alamosa County Commissioners. The San Luis Valley Youth Justice League Program is empowering youth in the community to raise awareness in schools about bullying, sexual harassment and assault, dating violence, affirmative consent, safe bystander intervention, survivor care, rights under Title IX, and suicide prevention.

The program is conducted by local first responders (law enforcement, doctors, nurses, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters) working together to share their skills and knowledge through educational training, workshops, presentations and activities for youth across the San Luis Valley.
