Gardner announces up to $100 million for investment for U.S. National Labs

Cory Gardner announced that ExxonMobil will invest up to $100 million over 10 years for lower-emissions research and development with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). This 10-year agreement will establish projects regarding biofuels, carbon capture, and storage and life cycle analysis of lower-emissions technologies.

Bennet reintroduces bill to reform antiquated hardrock mining laws

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Bennet reintroduced legislation to modernize the nation’s outdated hardrock mining laws to kick-start the cleanup of abandoned mines in Colorado. The Hardrock Mining Reform Act of 2019 would impose a commonsense royalty on hardrock mining, updating a law that dates back to 1872 allowing companies to mine public lands without paying royalties. This would help pay for abandoned mine cleanup and prevent future spills like the Gold King Mine disaster that spilled 3 million gallons of toxic wastewater into the Animas and San Juan rivers.

Gardner continues push for space command to come to Colorado

Jared Polis signing House Bill 1174 into law which would end “balance billing” or “surprise medical billing.” Balance bills or surprise medical bills occur when a patient has a procedure done at a facility that may have been in network, but the physician that conducted the procedure was not in-network. Often consumers are facing emergency situations and are either unaware or unable to decline the additional costs.
