Priscilla Ortega, 66

Alamosa resident Priscilla L. Ortega, 66, passed away May 23, 2017 at the Pikes Peak Hospice Center in Colorado Springs, with her loving family by her side. Priscilla was welcomed into the world on January 31, 1951 in San Luis, Colorado, the beloved daughter of Alfirio Sanchez and Estella Vigil Sanchez. She was united in marriage to Larry Ortega on June 24, 1972. The two shared a long and happy union until her untimely passing. She was well known in the community with her involvement in various organizations and was an active member at Sacred Heart Church. She was well known and liked by all. Her kind and compassionate nature will be dearly missed. Priscilla was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed attending family gatherings and events, she was an avid sports fan, she liked baking and cooking. She loved going to watch her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

Survivors include her beloved husband Larry Ortega of Alamosa, CO; daughter Maria  (Justin) Tabeling of Colorado Springs, CO; son Jose (Amy) Ortega of Alamosa, CO; grandchildren Alexis, Lora and Morgan Ortega all of Alamosa, CO; Anyssa and Brooks Tabeling of Colorado Springs, CO; mother and father-in-law Pete and Ida Ortega of San Luis, CO; sisters Theresa (Mike) Maldonado of San Luis, CO; Norma (Jim) Jaquez of Ft. Garland, CO; Carla (Jess) Jacquez of Alamosa, CO; Marcia Martinez of Pueblo, CO; brothers Joseph Sanchez of San Luis, CO; Nathan Sanchez of Taos, NM. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.

Priscilla is preceded in death by her parents Alfirio and Estella Sanchez. 

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery. The care of arrangements have been trusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
