Quilt show set from June 23-25

ALAMOSA — San Luis Valley Quilt Guild’s annual show will be presented June 23-25 at the Rodeway Inn, 333 Santa Fe Ave. (E. Hwy. 160).  The show opens Friday afternoon after setup is complete, and will be open until 7:30 p.m.  Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday hours are 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Income is used to fund the group’s charity projects including more than 100 lap quilts and bags donated to patients in the Alamosa hospital’s oncology unit and numerous quilts donated yearly to victims’ advocates to distribute to children impacted by various traumas.

Guild members have created bed-sized quilts as well as wall hangings and other quilted items for display.

Challenge quilts for this year were completed with the theme “Dancing With the Stars.” Members could interpret this theme any way they chose.

Raffle tickets will be sold for his year’s fund-raiser quilt.  The top was made by member Judy Freeark and given to the group as a gift before her death this past year. It is beautifully machine quilted by professional quilter and guild member Peg Collins.
