Quintana cited for Wednesday accident

ALAMOSA — One driver was cited and another injured in a two-vehicle crash at Highway 370 and Road 106 on Wednesday afternoon, March 10.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Darrin Rodriguez, who investigated the crash, vehicles driven by Richard Quintana of Conejos County and Nadine Murdoch of Alamosa were both headed east on Highway 370. Murdoch was going to turn north on the 106 when her vehicle was rear-ended by Quintana’s vehicle.

Trooper Rodriguez stated that Murdoch was partially ejected through the back window of her vehicle after coming out of the driver’s seat and over the rear seat when her vehicle was struck. Her head and shoulders rested on the trunk of the vehicle.

Rodriguez reported that Murdoch suffered a spinal fracture and is being held in the hospital through the weekend. Although she will not have to undergo surgery, she will have to go through physical therapy, he added.

Quintana was cited with careless driving.
