Rails & Ales

ALAMOSA — The 12th Annual Rails & Ales BrewFest churns into Alamosa on Saturday, June 15 with 43 craft breweries from across Colorado, and nearly 1,000 thirsty festival goers ‘onboard’.

The BrewFest takes place high in the Sangre de Christo mountains at the train stop known as Fir Station. Accessible only by rail, the festival provides ticket holders the opportunity to enjoy 100+ craft beers, a stunning train ride, BBQ and brauts, fabulous views and live music…all at 9,500 feet in the Rockies.

The community is invited to join the celebration and welcome the best of Colorado’s craft breweries to Alamosa at the Rails & Ales Blockparty, Friday, June 14. Thanks to the support of Friday Health Plans, The Alamosa Local Marketing District Board, and the City of Alamosa, the Blockparty is free to the community.  Festivities begin at 5 p.m. at the corner of San Juan Avenue and Main Street, Alamosa, and will continue late into the evening.

Headlining the block party at 8:30 p.m. is “Ryan Chrys and the Roughcuts”, Colorado’s premier Outlaw Country Band. Opening the festivities at 6 p.m. is local favorite “The Valley Cats” playing a danceable mix of Classic, Spanish and Modern Rock favorites. A Beer & Margarita Garden featuring 16 draft beers from Colorado’s best brewers, will serve libations outdoors starting at 5 p.m.  A free h20 ‘hydration station’ will be provided by the Alamosa Convention and Visitors Bureau.  A limited number of tables and chairs will be set up for attendees, but guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and their dancin’ boots to fully enjoy the festivities.

Rails & Ales Brewfest, and the Rails & Ales Blockparty are a partnership of the San Luis Valley Brewing Company and the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. A portion of the proceeds from the events are used to support local non-profit agencies including The Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley, Christian Community Service Projects, and Alamosa Volunteer Search and Rescue.
