Reception planned for Widhalm, Rogers

ALAMOSA — As 2018 comes to a close, so do the years of service for Alamosa County Treasurer & Public Trustee Lois Widhalm and Alamosa County Coroner Kevin Rogers.

Both opted not to seek re-election this year. Widhalm is retiring, and Rogers continues to serve the public through his mortuary business. Amy McKinley was elected to serve as the next Alamosa County treasurer and Trace Larson was elected as Alamosa County coroner.

Widhalm has served as treasurer since 2005, and Rogers has served as county coroner since 2009, with 10 years prior as deputy coroner.

A reception recognizing their years of public service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, from 2-4 p.m. at the Alamosa County Annex Building at 8999 Independence Way, Alamosa.

“I wish to thank all the citizens of Alamosa County for the opportunity I have had to serve as treasurer and public trustee for 13 years,” Widhalm said as she looked forward to her retirement at the end of December. “I have truly enjoyed these years of service to this county. A lot has been accomplished within the treasurer’s office and county of Alamosa. My motto at the beginning of this journey was ‘moving forward.’ I truly feel that we have done just that and the future holds many more successes for Alamosa County.”

Widhalm said she feels strongly that the county is moving in the right forward direction, and she has been grateful to be part of that momentum over the last decade. She said she could not have accomplished what she had during these years without her capable and dedicated staff who will continue to serve the public after she retires.

“I have had the opportunity to work with a brilliant, progressive staff and thank them for taking this journey with me,” she said, adding “I thank my fellow elected officials and department heads for your passion and leadership. Work is never ending for this county and I wish each of you the best as you continue to lead.”
