Rep. Valdez criticized by house leadership for calling out GOP representative

SAN LUIS VALLEY - On Tuesday, State Rep. Donald Valdez (D - Dist 62) took the floor of the State House to call out newly elected Rep. Ron Hanks (R - Dist 60) for his participation in the Trump rally in Washington DC on Jan. 6.

Valdez’s actions were criticized by both the Speaker of the House, who called it “an abuse of personal privilege,” and the Minority Leader, who emphasized that Hanks’ actions were prior to him being sworn into office.

Valdez’s statement, as well as responses from House leadership to Valdez’s decision to address the House, will appear in the Friday edition.
