Ribbon cutting at Friends Park

ALAMOSA — Friends Park in Alamosa enjoyed its official opening on Saturday, with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

The weekend event got a great turn out. There were remarks from both Aaron Miltonberger and Mayor Ty Coleman. As well as plenty of local and state representatives in appearance including Colorado Representative Donald Valdez, Commissioners Michael Yohn, Lori Laske, and Vern Heersink; Mayor Ty Coleman, City Council Members Charles Griego and Michael Carson. Also from Monte Vista Karla Shriver was also present.

It was a catered event with Ef’s Restaurant providing burritos to attendees as well as donuts, and afterwards parks patrons were allowed to put the newly minted park through its paces including playing on the  zipline.

The park is still on the path of a final vision which could include new equipment, new benches, shade coverings as well as fencing.
