SOUTH FORK — South Fork resident Richilieu K. Childs “Rich” was called home by the Lord on January 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valbert and Katie Childs of Canyon City, Colorado, brother Raymond Childs of Pueblo, Colorado, and sister Alberta Cermack of Canyon City, Colorado.  Rich is survived by his sister Maxine Team of Pueblo, Colorado, her daughter Vonda Leggitt, and her sons, Jeff Leggitt and wife Pam Leggitt, and Rod Leggitt and wife Jonna Leggitt. 

Rich was born December 9, 1936 in South Fork, Colorado.  Rich led a life devoted to his wife of almost 63 years, Glenda L. Childs of South Fork, and a loving father to his 4 children, Rick Childs, with wife Juanita,  of Alamosa, Colorado, Forrest Childs of South Fork, Colorado, Denise Childs of Rockwall, Texas and Lynn Drain with wife Linda, of South Fork, Colorado.  Rich was also a proud and loving Grandfather to his two Grandsons, Grayson Elder and Gage Elder of Rockwall, Texas. 

Those who were fortunate to know Rich, will remember him as a giving and loving man who was always willing to help or give in ways that came from the heart.  Rich and Glenda spent many years caring for foster children, and Rich also volunteered for DreamCatchers.  Rich’s true passion was for the mountains.  He loved to hunt and fish and he shared his love for the outdoors with many.  He taught not only hunting skills, but safety, survival and respect for wildlife and the outdoors.  He will be truly missed by many but his loving, kind and generous spirit will remain alive in those who knew and loved him!
