Rio Grande Bridge repair work set

ALAMOSA –The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be making repairs to the US Highway 160 Rio Grande Bridge in Alamosa next week. The repairs are scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, with the possibility of work needed the following day as well, Wednesday, October 3.

“Our goal is to complete the bridge repairs within one day’s time (on Tuesday, October 2),” said CDOT Maintenance Special Crews Foreman Willie Atencio. “However, there is a possibility that this could turn into a two-day project. If this happens, metal plates will be placed on the bridge surface to accommodate evening traffic flow.”

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Crews will work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, and possibly Wednesday, October 3.

Vehicles will be restricted to one lane, alternating traffic.

Motorists can expect delays of 10 – 15 minutes, and longer delays during peak traffic hours.

Motorists are urged to slow down in the work zone.

Motorists are asked to watch for equipment and work activity.

Motorists are urged to keep the safety of flaggers and workers in mind at all times while traveling through the work zone.

The Rio Grande Bridge is located on US 160/Broadway Avenue, at mile point 233.5 on the east side of Alamosa.
