Rio Grande National Forest offices to be closed September 7-9, 2021

MONTE VISTA — The Rio Grande National Forest (RGNF) announced today that all their offices will be closed for three days during the week of Sept. 6, 2021 to accommodate training the Visitor Information Specialists (VIS) for a new forest products sales system. Since Monday is the Labor Day holiday, all offices will be closed from Monday, Sept. 6 through Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021. Offices will reopen providing normal services on Friday, Sept. 10.

The agency is systematically transitioning to a new electronic sales system which will go online for all RGNF offices beginning Thursday, September 9, 2021. The VIS staff must be fully trained to provide the same level of quality customer service our public has become accustomed to.

The RGNF would like to encourage all forest users that need to purchase firewood permits, or other forest products, to visit one our offices as soon as possible to avoid any delays.

We appreciate the public’s understanding as we transition to our new forest products sales system.
