Rita Parker

Loving mother and grandmother, Rita Parker, passed away on October 27, 2022, at Penrose Main Hospital in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her family.

Rita was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 13, 1955. Rita worked alongside her husband at the family-owned Jim’s Diesel in Alamosa. Once Jim retired, Rita became a medical assistant in Alamosa. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, and she spent much time and energy caring for them like the loving grandmother that she was. She loved spending time at the Lake and watching her grandchildren play sports.

Rita is survived by her children, Denise (Robert) Christensen of Eustis, Florida, Deanna Parker and Dee Chinn of Brighton, Colorado, Dawna (Robert) Gudka of Keenesburg, Colorado, Casey Clifton of Mosca and Katie (Chuck) Montague of Mosca, her grandchildren, Tifany (David) Alexander, Marc (Bethany) Christensen, Alan (Kaylie) Gudka, Bryan Gudka, Blake Gudka, Shyana Clifton, Kylee Clifton, Skylar Montague, Tyson Montague and Sydney Montague, her great-grandchildren, Collette Alexander, Eloise Alexander, Charles Alexander,  Luxe Christensen, Tripp Christensen, Sutton Layne Christensen, Ethan Clifton and Cashley Gudka as well as her siblings, Connie and Mark Matejka and Kenny Sheldon. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jim Parker; her parents; Alton Elwood Sheldon and Violet Marie Sheldon as well as her siblings Sharon Smith; Kay Jones; Ann Richards and Patricia Bell. 

A graveside service for Rita will be held at the Alamosa Cemetery on November 10th, 2022, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rita’s memory are suggested to Pikes Peak Hospice and may be made in the care of the funeral home office, Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa.
