DEL NORTE — Robert (Bob) Yund, 73, a native of Del Norte, passed away November 4, 2019, into the eternal elk hunting grounds of our loving Savior.

Bob was born in Del Norte on September 30, 1946. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Master’s in Education, both from Adams State.

A proud veteran, Bob served in the Vietnam War overseeing maintenance of rescue helicopters, as well aiding the extraction of fellow servicemen in need of rescue. He taught high school math and computer use for the Del Norte Public Schools for 30 years. During his tenure as a teacher, Bob meet his wife Stephanie (Brandon) and they married in 1976. After retirement, he kept active by providing tree removal services, performing snow plowing, and delivering firewood to members of the surrounding communities. He also continued his love of education by teaching on campus and extended studies for Adams State. Bob was an exceptionally generous man with a huge heart who frequently gave a helping hand to someone in need, and who often did and said things just to brighten another’s day.  His absence will be felt not only by family, but by his former students and other members of the community of Del Norte and the surrounding area.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Grace Yund, his sister Betty (Duzenack), and his brothers Charles and Ted. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Stephanie, his sister Joyce (Harbour) of Coram, Montana, daughters Michelle (Mike Serface) of Monte Vista, and Cara of Del Norte, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
