Robert Joe Gurulé

LAS MESITAS — The Gurulé family would like to announce the passing of Robert Joe Gurulé.

Robert was born in Las Mesitas Colorado on November 30th 1953 to Hiliario Gurulé  and Cleotilde (Sandoval) Gurulé .

Robert Gurulé served his community as the Chief of Police for Antonito, Colorado and finished his 41-year career in law enforcement as the Sheriff of Conejos County. Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, and the JC’s. He served on numerous boards and commissions including the Antonito Housing Authority and the Colorado Senate Commission on Elected Officials Salaries. His greatest passion in life was helping those around him and spending time with his numerous poker buddies and family.

He was preceded in death by his father Hilario Gurulé, mother Cleotilde (Sandoval) Gurulé, brothers Andy Gurulé, Phillip Gurulé, and granddaughter Destiny Martinez. He lives on through his childrden Robert Gurulé  (Eli), Anna Gurulé , Hohnnie Gurulé  (Melissa Madril), Esther Trujillo, and Jose Gurulé , Jr. Gradaughters: Ashli Tujillo, Stephanie Martinez, Heaven Gurulé , Katlyn Gurulé , Sierra Gurulé , Kayli Gurulé  Gransons: Armando Lara III and Melachi Trujillo. Brothers: Alex Gutierrez and Loude Neal, Sisters Ida Vigil (Bernie), Darlene Gurulé , and Dianna Marquest (Ernest).

A rosary will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Conejos, Colorado on March 20th at 6:30 PM. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later time.
