Rocketry class planned

ALAMOSA — Alamosa Family Recreation Center announces a youth rocketry class this spring.

This is a child’s chance to build a rocket from the bottom up and launch it! This is an entry-level model rocket program is for kids 6-16 and is co-sponsored by Big Valley Hobbies.

Participants will:

- Learn the model rocketry code

- Learn how a rocket launches, operates and flies

- Construct a model rocket including sanding, gluing and painting

- Learn to calculate altitude

- Lanch and recover their own rocket

Rocket supplies are included in the class fee - $20, but participants will need to bring a small collection of supplies such as tape, scissors, etc. Ages 6 - 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Class Sessions are Monday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 11, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the AFRC Children’s Room. Launch day is Saturday, April 14th at 9 a.m. at the SLV Rocketeers range.
