Rodney Leonard Jiron, 58

Rodney Jiron 58 years old passed away on January 12, 2018 in Denver Colorado under hospice care. He was born December 20, 1959 to Armando and Estephanita Jiron. Rodney grew up in Monte Vista, attended Monte Vista schools, graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1978. Rodney enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in school and out of school, playing with the town teams. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and great BBQ’S with all his family, and of course we can’t forget the love he had for those Broncos.

Rodney is survived by his children, Jeremy Jiron, Uriah Jiron, Danielle (Santana) Jiron, Matthew (Jennai) Jiron, Roxlynn Aragon, Ruby Malouff, Kristjian Malouff, Nicole Malouff and Felisha Maes. He is also survived by 8 grandsons and 9 granddaughters, 3 brothers, Leroy (Joan) Jiron, Henry (Bernice) Jiron and Kenny Jiron, also 5 sisters, Jennie (Ernest) Samora, Tina (Art) Medina, Darlene Padilla, Jeannie (Eugene) Atencio and Karen Jiron.

Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Armando Jiron, mother, Estephanita Jiron, 2 brothers, Frank Jiron, Filimon Jiron and several other family members.

A Rosary will be held on February 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at ST. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held February 17, 2018 at ST. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., burial to follow.      

Rockard E. Finley Jr., 88, of Monte Vista, CO passed away on February 4, 2018. He was born on January 4, 1930 in De Monies, New Mexico to Rockard E. Finley and Thelma Louise Sutley.

He is survived by his loving wife Lavada Finley of Monte Vista, CO; his son Reno (Marylou) Finley of Colorado Springs, CO; Daughter Roxi Finley (Gary) “Skip” Dearing of Monte Vista, CO; 2 grandchildren Tia & Christopher; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 step- children; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rockard Sr. and Thelma (Sutley) Finley and his sister.

Rockard enjoyed outdoor activities; fishing and hunting. He served in the U.S Army, was a member of Masonic Lodge, Elks, American legion and was a “workaholic”.

Memorial Service will be held February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Strohmayer’s Chapel in Monte Vista, Co 81144. Lieu of flowers make donations to Tri County Senior Citizens. Arrangements in care of Strohmayer’s Funeral Home.
