PUEBLO, Colo.— Roger Clark Tooker passed away on Aug. 4, 2019 peacefully in his sleep. Roger was born on April 11, 1956 to Harry James and Verna June (Farnsworth) Tooker in Glendale, Calif.
He grew up in the Pueblo area where he graduated from Pueblo South High School in 1974. Prior to graduation, Roger enlisted with the U.S. Army, because he wanted to follow in his father and brother’s military footsteps. He was stationed in Key West Fla., then Camp Casey, Korea before being sent to Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War. Roger was honorably discharged in October 1980.
Roger will be fondly remembered for his somewhat inappropriate humor and his always-present home improvement projects. He loved to spend time with his family, fishing, camping and fixing all things. He was an auto mechanic for many years and was always a Ford man. His grandkids loved to hear him talk like Donald Duck and laughed endlessly when he gave them “The Face.” Roger’s most recent hobbies included guarding his fruit trees from the squirrels with a BB gun and maintaining his garden and yard with pride.
Roger is survived by his wife, Beth Cerny Tooker; daughter Sarah (Noah) Hayden, Pueblo; stepchildren Robyn (Dan) Johnson, Colorado Springs; Jenny (Jeremy) Alonzo, Alamosa; Shannon (Bill) Gonzales, Alamosa; Zach (Tasha) Cerny, Alamosa; Katie (Brandon) Jaramillo, Colorado Springs; Tyler (Megan) Cerny, Denver; grandchildren Caden, Ryker and Raelee Alonzo; Skyler and Sammie Cerny; Josh Cline; Matthew and Nic Gonzales and Julian Jaramillo; his fur babies Gizmo and Tucker; brother Les (Janet) Tooker, Fowler; sisters Mary (Ron) Gravatt, Pueblo; Sherry Parrish, Denver and Linda (Lee) Miller, La-Verne, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews, including his close nephew Keith (Marie) Tooker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Woolsey and grandparents Birdie Murl and Minnie Mary (Schneider) Farnsworth.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 9 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 706 Roselawn Rd., Pueblo. Cremation to follow at Roselawn Crematory. Online condolences can be made at roselawnpueblo.org.
