Romero bids Alamosa BOE farewell

ALAMOSA — Alamosa School District Board of Education President Erica Romero has resigned.

The reason for her departure is that she is moving to Colorado Springs with her family where her husband, Jason, recently took a position with Palmer Ridge High School as head wrestling coach.

She issued the following statement: “My family and I have been given an opportunity we couldn’t refuse and have made the difficult decision to move. My time with the Alamosa school board allowed me the privilege to work for my community, for which I care deeply. While my service with the board will come to an end, I will carry on the invaluable experience and Mean Moose spirit in my future endeavors. I thank you all for the privilege of having served as school board president. It has truly been an honor.”

The board made Arlan Van Ry president by acclamation. The new vice president will be Elias Heredia.

The process to fill Romero’s District 4 vacancy is now underway. Interviews are set to begin on October 1st.
