Rotary Club hosts gun show

MONTE VISTA — The Monte Vista Rotary Club is pleased to announce their annual OUTDOOR & GUN SHOW at Ski Hi Park in Monte Vista on Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. This fun-filled event will feature vendors, information and food. Admission is only $10 per day and accompanied children under 12 are free.

Founded in 1920, the Monte Vista Rotary Club has been serving the San Luis Valley and supporting national and international humanitarian projects ever since. In addition to the annual Outdoor and Gun Show, ongoing projects and community financial support include the annual Chuck Wagon Dinner at Stampede, Colorado State Highway Cleanup Project, Student Foreign Exchange Hosts, Sargent and Monte Vista Schools after prom, Memorial Day Cemetery Cleanup, Faith Hinkley Memorial & Veteran’s Park, Creede Reperatory Theater, an orphanage in Mexico, SLV Science Fair and Book Scholarships for Adams State and Trinidad State students. The Monte Vista Rotary organized a community project where the proceeds from past shows were used to provide body armor for the Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Department.

Monte Vista Rotary supports ongoing Rotary International projects, including support for the Rotary International Polio Plus program. This program has reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide since their first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries.

One hundred % of the proceeds from this fundraising event will go toward the Monte Vista Rotary’s community projects.
