ALAMOSA — Alamosa resident Roy Castleberry went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2019.

Roy was born on July 10, 1946 in Independence, La., the son of Hillard Tyce Castleberry and Jessie Catherine Fanbum-Castleberry. He was enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968.

He was a loving and kind father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and the time he spent with his family.

Roy is survived by his daughter Tara (Eric) Decker of Alamosa; Nicole Castleberry of Pueblo, Colo.; sons Roy (Vanessa Romero) Castleberry and Brandon (Tylar) Castleberry, both of Alamosa; sisters Opal Castleberry, Wanda Castleberry and Ione Castleberry; and brother Jack Castleberry.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Hillard Tyce Castleberry and Jessie Catherine Fanbum-Castleberry; brothers Frank and Burdett Castleberry; and sister Hazel Castleberry.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at Romero Funeral Home at a later date.
