Runoff Race June 1

CREEDE – The Rio Grande Headwaters Restoration Project (RGHRP) and the Headwaters Alliance (HA) are partnering to host their annual fundraiser, the Runoff Runoff, on June 1.

The Runoff Runoff event will take place in Creede, and will include a marathon, half-marathon and 6K, all following the scenic headwaters of the Rio Grande. Following the races, participants and community members are welcome to an after-party in the Creede Ballpark, complete with live music and lawn games. The party will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., and will boast tasty burgers and local beer from Three Barrel Brewing Company. Local bands, including the Julian Dossett Trio and the Roundhouse Assembly, will play live music throughout the afternoon.

The purpose of the Runoff Runoff is to raise awareness about local water issues and to fundraise for projects that improve water quality, wildlife habitat, recreation and the overall condition of the Rio Grande headwaters.

Proceeds will allow the RGHRP and the HA to continue their missions. The RGHRP non-profit specializes in improving water quality, agricultural water use, riparian health, wildlife and aquatic species habitat, recreation opportunity and community safety in the Rio Grande basin.
