Saguache County receives matching grant from CO State Tourism Office

SAGUACHE COUNTY —The Saguache County Tourism Council is pleased to announce the receipt of a $25,000 grant award from the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) to use toward development of a county-wide transmedia story, the Saguache Experience.

Transmedia storytelling interweaves a fictional story with an on-the-ground hands-on scavenger-hunt-type experience that entices players to explore their surroundings. It leads visitors to puzzles to unlock clues that lead to more clues all the while showcasing memorable places and characters of Saguache County. The game creates a fun environment like no other to connect with outdoor adventures, historical sites, and businesses throughout the county. It will entice and challenge mystery lovers and puzzle solvers of all ages.

Vivia Lawson, chair of the council sees the grant as an opportunity to “create greater visibility for Saguache County’s many visitor assets including. The transmedia project highlights the ways our many l diverse communities can work together to showcase the beauty and variety of experiences available in Saguache County.”

A smaller transmedia project created by the duo Zach and Mary Rose Cupery of MZR Cupery, LLC was presented during the Saguache Fall Festival on September 15th. Noted the Cuperys, “Our goal with transmedia storytelling is to connect visitors with engaging local history and landscapes in fun and innovative ways by revealing the mysteries and details not always easily accessible to visitors to Saguache County.”
