SAN LUIS — A 99-year-old man is dead following a Monday afternoon house fire at San Luis.

Preliminary reports indicate Alex Quintana was in his “smoking corner” when the fire started.

He was taken to Colorado Springs for an autopsy and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has reportedly been called in, which is routine when someone dies in a fire.

Apparently, Quintana liked living alone and did so until recently, when his granddaughter began looking after him.
