San Luis Valley Plant Strong meeting set

VALLEY — Curious about a plant-based diet? Are you a wannabe vegetarian? Thinking about going plant strong? Want to go vegan? Know someone who is? Have lots of questions?

Suffering with chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, MS or other chronic conditions and are taking lots of medications? Want to find out if diet can help with symptoms and even help heal your body?

All are invited to the first meeting of San Luis Valley Plant Strong where participants will be introduced to the benefits of a whole foods plant-based diet and will try to answer questions.

No judgment here — no one will be turned away if they love bacon and burgers. Plant Strong is happy to share information and share lots of resources to get folks started on their education about the power of a whole food plant-based diet that is starch-based and low fat. Eat lots of organic SLV potatoes, rice, corn, beans, etc. and fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and legumes – eat till satisfied while the body rebuilds its health thanks to the good natural food being consumed. No gimmicks here, no cost, just learn to eat real food and your body will begin to heal itself.

The group will be screening the film “Forks Over Knives,” the documentary that started it all. There will be time for Q & A and a sample tasting of delicious plant-based foods after the meeting. If there is enough interest Plant Strong will set up a 21-day challenge then monthly meetings with potlucks.

The group is planning the 1st Annual Southern Colorado VegFest for next October and has dreams of working with schools and community gardens all over the San Luis Valley.

SLV Plant Strong, a Valley community devoted to building health with a whole foods plant-based diet, will hold a FREE meeting from 3-5:30 p.m. this Sunday, January 7th at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Alamosa at Clark and Craft Drives (just north of Burger King.)

There is no cost.
