ALAMOSA – The Colorado High School Activities Association released its preseason basketball polls on Monday. All polls are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.

Two boys basketball teams from the San Luis Valley are in the Top 2 in their respective classifications. Sanford is the top-ranked team in Class 2A, while Centauri is ranked second in Class 3A. Both teams are coming off second-place finishes last season.

Two other boys teams are listed as “others receiving  votes” in their classifications including Monte Vista (Class 2A) and Sierra Grande (Class 1A).

Sanford and Centauri are also in the Top 10 in girls basketball. Sanford is ranked fourth in Class 2A, while Centauri is sixth in Class 3A. Like its boys team, the Sanford girls are also coming off a second-place finish last season.

Six SLV girls teams were listed as “others receiving votes” including Sargent (Class 2A), Center (Class 2A), Del Norte (Class 2A), Sangre de Cristo (Class 1A), Sierra Grande (Class 1A), and Centennial (Class 1A).
