Sangre de Cristo FFA members recieve grants

DENVER—Garrett Horning and Jared Sinclair of the Sangre de Cristo FFA chapter received grants in the amount of $1,500 from the Colorado FFA Foundation to establish and improve a beef Supervised Agricultural Experience programs.  

For Garrett, the grant funds will be used to purchase a heifer of his choosing. Garrett will then be involved in showing the heifer at the SLV fair and Colorado state fair during the FFA heifer wrangle show.  

The grant funds for Jared will be used to purchase a bred cow of his choosing.

The grant was presented on January 18th as part of “FFA Day” at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.  Along with the funds they were introduced to their sponsors. Garrett’s sponsors are Ben Duke from the Denver Ag and Livestock Club and Steve Sterkel from American AgCredit.  Jared’s sponsor is Jared Breinig from Animal Health International out of Greeley Colorado.  

FFA is an integral part of Agricultural Education Division within the Colorado Community College System. The Colorado FFA Association Currently has enrollment of over 6,200 members and 110 chapters. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
