Sargent High School students compete in essay and oratorical competition

SARGENT — Recently, Mrs. Lindsay’s Honors English Juniors competed in an essay and oratorical competition sponsored by The International Optimist Club through Adams State.

All judging was conducted blindly without mention of grade level, school, or student name. Out of 25 essays, Sargent took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Cole Segar earned 3rd, Jeni Johnson earned 2nd, and Breannen Maxwell earned 1st.

Out of five speakers in the oration portion of the competition, Sargent took home 1st and 2nd places. Clay Kimberling earned 2nd and Drew Smith earned 1st.

Breannen, Clay, and Drew all advance to the regional portion of the competition in Pueblo.
