Sargent sending four swimmers to state meet

ALAMOSA – After a second-place finish at the South-Central League Meet last weekend in Pueblo, the Sargent High School girls swimming team will send four swimmers to this weekend’s Class 3A State Meet which will take place at the VMAC in Thornton.

Three of the Lady Farmers qualified in more than one individual event. However, they have been limited to just two individual events and two relays.

Kaylee Gonzales-Moore, a sophomore from Alamosa, will compete in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke. She had times of 2:17.36 in the 200 free and 1:17.36 in the breaststroke.

Gonzales-Moore also qualified in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard individual medley.

Emma Sewell, a sophomore from Sargent, will compete in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. She had times of 5:56.01 in the 500 free and 1:08.04 in the butterfly.

Sewell had also qualified in the  100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard breaststroke.

Danielle Aquino, a junior from Alamosa, will compete in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Her times were 27.28 in the 50 free and 1:00.29 in the 100 free.

The final Lady Farmer is Willa Seesz-Sanchez, a junior from Center, who will compete in the 100-yard breaststroke. Her time was 1:15.48.

All four members also qualified in the 200-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay, and the 400-yard freestyle relay. They will compete in only the first two relays in which they had times of 2:01.96 and 1:50.99, respectively.
