ScSEED hopes to inspire your activism using the power of art and film

Saguache County Sustainable Environmental and Economic Development will be hosting the 2020 ScSEED Wild & Scenic Film Festival Live-Stream Event, Saturday Nov 14th.

We are reinventing this event, as our first time at a Live-Stream. As with so many things these days, gathering inside is not advisable, so we are taking to the air waves! The fest will feature a collection of films of various lengths that speak to water and land stewardship and enjoyment in the great outdoors. They also bring stories of diverse people and communities striving for equity, justice and balance on our planet.

The motto for Wild and Scenic Films is, “where activism gets inspired!” ScSEED was inspired to include two films by talented local film maker Christi Bode of MoxieCran Media. The fest will feature two local water activists as our special guest cameos; Tom McCracken longtime organic farmer in Saguache County and Cleave Simpson Manager of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District.

How it works – tickets are available at  https://qudio.com/event/scseed/register. Then on Nov 14th, log-in starting at 6:30pm for chat and sound check. Movies start at 7:00pm with a 10-minute intermission for an entire run of two hours not counting the 30-minute sign in time and the intermission. You can chat and talk with friends and other attendees during the event – Fun!

This year, we are supporting five North San Luis Valley Restaurants by offering a special “Dinner and a Movie” ticket. Participating local restaurants will pack you a dinner special for two and a beverage to take home as you enjoy the festival. Choices are Leonardo’s in Center; Our Food is Art in Crestone; Villa Grove Trade in Villa Grove; Village Pub in Saguache, and the Windsor Hotel in Del Norte.

You might even be moved to address some of the challenges presented in these films and that is the goal of Wild & Scenic Films and their national partners: Peak Design, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Earthjustice, Klean Kanteen, and Hipcamp.

It took a lot to bring this Festival together and our sponsors made it possible. ScSEED is so grateful to the Colorado Trust, SLV Water Conservancy District, SLV Local Foods Coalition, Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust, Joyful Journey Hot Springs, the Orient Land Trust, 1st SouthWest Bank, Saguache County Board of County Commissioners, Energize Colorado, Kristi Mountain Sports, Doug Bishop and Lynne Thompson.

Thanks everyone for supporting ScSEED as we come together to get informed and inspired on these vital issues.
