SdC FFA competes at state

FORT COLLINS-- On May 1, students from the Sangre de Cristo FFA Chapter competed at the Colorado FFA State Career Development Events (CDE’s) at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The SDC FFA brought four teams to the competition: Agronomy/Field Crops, Floriculture, Veterinary Science and Livestock Evaluation. 

The students that participated in the Agronomy/Field Crops CDE were Cole Cooper, Abbie Kendrick, Zachary Rutgers, and Jared Sinclair.  The team received a gold award, placing third overall.  Individually Zachary was high point individual and Cole placed in the silver category. 

The floriculture event requires students to identify various plants, diseases, pests and equipment. Participating in the floral were Lexis Metz and Victoria Ford.

The vet science competition requires students to work through various scenarios involved with vet science, identify various parasites, animals, and equipment used in the industry. Competing in this contest were Alliyah Garcia and Libby Stockebrand.

The Livestock Evaluation CDE requires students judge cattle, sheep, goats, and market swine. SDC FFA’s Livestock Judging Team consisted of Garrett Horning and Tristan Harrelson. Garrett received a gold award.
