Senior Center to host its Christmas Bazaar

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa senior citizens are thankful for our wonderful members, the treasures who volunteer their time, gifts and talents and the great community that supports the Alamosa Senior Center.

Please join us on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 for our Annual Christmas Bazaar. Friday from 1pm-5pm we have crafts, baked goods (I know for a fact there will be several gluten free items), vendors Rosi Myers (metal wrapped jewelry) and John and Annette Kurys (horseshoe art and chakra essential oil bracelets), and silent auction and craft items. Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. the ASC offers breakfast burritos (sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes and cheese filled) smothered with your choice of homemade red or green chili for the cost of $7 per person, silent auction, crafts, vendors and baked goods. The raffle takes place at noon and vendor items will remain available until 2 p.m. Silent auction items include original art work, southwestern items, pottery, jewelry, Christmas baskets and muchmore.

The following weekly activities are for all seniors whether you are a member or not. Please stop by and join us. All classes are free unless otherwise noted. If you have suggestions for a new class or group, please let us know and be sure to call with any questions or concerns.

w Billiards play.

w Coffee social hour at 8:30 a.m.

w Puzzle construction.

w M, W, F Strong Bones at 9:30 a.m. Participants enjoy many health benefits such as; improved bone density, reduction of falls, improved flexibility, and increased strength.

w Dime Bingo, Monday -Thursdays from 1 p.m, $2 fee for non-members.

w Bridge play takes place on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m.

w Tai Chi with Lyn Johnson Wednesday mornings at 8:30 a.m.

w Free 5 point ear acupuncture conducted by Rick Wertz each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for veterans and seniors 50-over. Those who participate note less stress and anxiety and better sleep.

w Sewing Group (includes knitting, crocheting, quilting meets each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and the Mah Jongg group at 1pm.

w Art class with Rosi Myers meets on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. Each class will offer something new. Everyone is an artist, so drop by and have fun being creative. We will be having a senior art show at the hospital in February, so be thinking about which of your creations you wish to enter. The only stipulation is that it must be able to be displayed on a wall. Please call the center if you are interested or drop by class on a Friday.
