Seniors plan fun trips in June

ALAMOSA — Thank you to those who stopped by to support the Alamosa Senior Citizens Ice Cream Float Sale last weekend and to our wonderful volunteers who helped make it possible!

June is looking busy and we hope to see many folks join us! June 7th, the senior citizens’ bus hits the road for Cities of Gold in Santa Fe, NM and the Bradford Science Museum in Los Alamos, NM. We’ll stop in Santa Fe for those wishing to gamble and travel on to Los Alamos to tour the museum to learn about the history of the WWII Manhattan Project.

Tuesday, June 13th at 10 a.m., join Mary Dereng for a fun and festive holiday ornament craft project. The center will provide the materials so call ahead to register so that we have plenty on hand!

Friday, June 16th, Daniel Workman, Master Gunsmith & Firearms instructor, will teach us how to disassemble, clean and re-assemble a firearm. We will learn about gun safety and what to look for in choosing a firearm. This class is free to members of the Alamosa Senior Citizens, $20 for seniors 50 & above and $40 for all others. Class size is limited so please call ahead to reserve your spot.

Saturday, June 17th the bus leaves the center at 7:30 a.m. for a fun trip to Big Meadows reservoir. Come with us to fish, hike or just soak in the beauty of the mountains. The trip fee is $15 and includes lunch with a soda or water. If you would like to fish but don’t have equipment, don’t worry! Joe has plenty to share. Just be sure to have your fishing license handy! Call the center to place your reservation.
