Alamosa resident Serapio “Chapo” Heredia, 80, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2021, at Penrose Hospital In Colorado Springs. Serapio was welcomed into the world on September 13, 1940, in Balleza Chihuahua, Mexico, the beloved son of Serapio Heredia Sr., and Arcadia Rojas Heredia. Serapio was to all who knew him a kind and loving person. He worked for many years as a rancher and farmer. He loved animals, being in the mountains, going hunting, praying and reading the bible. His greatest joy in life came from the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons Noel (Manuela) Heredia, Moses (Mollie) Heredia, Ruben (Michelle) Heredia all of Alamosa, CO; Joshua Heredia of Clermont, FL; Mario Heredia of Beulah CO;11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brothers Fidencio (Julia) Heredia, Henry (Pat) Heredia, both of Monte Vista, CO; Mariano (Rita) Heredia of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Serapio was preceded in death by his parents Serapio and Arcadia Heredia Sr., his wife Alicia Heredia, two infant daughters, two brothers Abelardo and Edmundo Heredia, three sisters Ofelia, Evangelina and Ignacia.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow at the Chicago Cemetery in Saguache, CO.
