Shady object not bomb

RIO GRANDE WILDLIFE AREA — There was a bomb scare Tuesday afternoon on the  Alamosa Rio Grande county line, but it turned out to be nothing at all.

“It wasn’t one; it ended up being a suspicious object,” said Colorado Parks and Wildlife  Manager Rick Basagoitia, from the Monte Vista office. “We ended up calling in experts, but it wasn’t a bomb.

“We’re always grateful that it wasn’t anything dangerous.”

Basagoitia, who manages the entire San Luis Valley, said the bomb squad was called in from the Pueblo Police Department.

“It turned out to be a benign object,” he added.
