SLV COVID-19 public health update

SAN LUIS VALLEY —  As of last Friday, March 6th, 16,525 doses of COVID-19 Vaccine have been administered across the 6 county SLV region according to CDPHE. This includes first and second doses. Local Public Health Agencies and healthcare providers continue to run regular vaccination clinics, as well as reaching out to employers of those included in Phase 1B3. According to the CDC, vaccine supplies should be increasing very soon, allowing our providers to reach even more people. More information on Phases and eligibility can be found here: https://covid19.colorado.gov/for-coloradans/vaccine/vaccine-for-coloradans.

If you have had COVID-19 in the past, this does not guarantee against getting sick from it again in the future. It is rare, but there have been 822 documented second infection cases in Colorado. We encourage people to get the vaccine when they are eligible, even if they have already had COVID-19 and recovered. People who are currently sick with the virus should wait until after they have recovered to get the vaccine.
