SLV positivity rate sits at 5.2%

SAN LUIS VALLEY - The COVID-19 positivity rate in the San Luis Valley is 5.2%, which indicates that there are likely undiagnosed cases in the area, and a higher likelihood of the virus spreading, especially among unvaccinated people.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, please get tested. Some of the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

There will be a free mobile testing unit at the Community Building at 525 7th St in Saguache on Wednesdays from 3pm-7pm.

Our regional total of active COVID-19 cases has been in a plateau since mid-June, with an average of 5-7 new cases per day. Public Health officials hope to see these numbers decrease as more people get vaccinated.

Just over 60% of the variant cases confirmed in the San Luis Valley in the months of June and July 2021 were the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. As of Tuesday, there are currently 50 known active cases of COVID-19 in the San Luis Valley.
