SLV Swap hosts adult clothing, accessories swap

ALAMOSA — SLV Swap it has been hosting community based clothing and gear swaps in the SLV for the past seven years.

These swaps allow community members to clean out their closets, garages, and storage areas giving new life to old stuff and keeping it out of landfills.  SLV Swap has hosted swaps for kids clothing and accessories, men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, books, and craft supplies to name a few. These completely free events are run by community volunteers and allow any community member to leave what they have extra and take what they need.

At the Kids’ Clothing and Accessories Swap last week, the group served over 30 families with more than 50 kids getting new to them clothing, shoes, and other items. All leftover items were given to local charitable organizations.

On November 3 SLV Swap is hosting its last swap for 2018.  This is an Adult Clothing and Accessories Swap. It will also be held at the First United Methodist Church in Alamosa (2005 Mullins Avenue) from 9-11 a.m.

Here is how the Swap works in practice in Alamosa. Community members bring adult clothing, shoes, men’s and women’s accessories, and books in good repair that they no longer need. Items need to be clean and we do not accept items that smell of smoke. Then you sort the items onto tables or one of our new clothing racks by type (for example, women’s dresses, men’s dress shirts, etc.). Then you take what you need.

Those who are unable to attend the swap but have items to donate, please contact Mandy Pittman at the info listed below. Please do not just drop them off at the church. All leftover items will be donated to local charities.

From 9-10 am, exchange your items for those that you need. After 10 am, anyone can take what they need, whether they bring items to exchange or not.
