SLV VOAD’s website up, running

DEL NORTE — San Luis Valley Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, out of Del Norte, announced to its fellow SLV VOAD members, new members, and community members from the Rio Grande and the San Luis Valley.

The SLV VOAD website is officially live.

Although it is still a work in progress, it looks great, is user-friendly, and serves the community’s purpose to spread the message throughout the San Luis Valley.

The mission of Faith-Based and Community Service Partnership for Disaster is to aid the community recovery plans by developing and implementing a holistic approach to disaster recovery, maximizing public and private resources to facilitate an efficient and effective integrated system, including human services, housing, infrastructure, community and economic development issues.

Anyone can visit the website at https://www.slvvoad.org/, and SLV VOAD now can accept monetary donations through the website.

All donations will go directly to the ‘SLV GIVES’ account. Anyone has the option to select which county they would like to donate to.

All funds received will be saved for future disaster response and recovery efforts.

Spark The Change Colorado is officially up and running, as well.

This is a database for all volunteers, ages 16 years and up, can register and sign-up to volunteer with the SLV VOAD.

Registration is simple. Visit https://www.sparkthechangecolorado.org/ and anyone can type in the county in which they reside under the “location” tab, and it will pull up the open volunteering opportunities in your area.

There is a one-time $11 fee per person, which does a basic criminal background check on all of our volunteers.
