SLVBHG celebrates office grand opening

CEO Fernando Martinez, SLVBHG staff and board members gathered together for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Del Norte office.

DEL NORTE — On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group (SLVBHG), celebrated the grand opening of its newest office in Del Norte. SLVBHG now has eight satellite offices in the San Luis Valley. The newly remodeled office is west of town next to the Family Dollar.

Though the office is new to Del Norte, SLVBHG is not. SLVBHG has had a presence in Del Norte for several years as they worked closely with the Rio Grande Hospital. With the demand for services increasing, SLVBHG saw fit to open a local office. “We are just very happy to be here. My staff has told me that this is our third busiest office in the Valley. Which shows this is the right time to be here to help the community,” said SLVBHG CEO Fernando Martinez.

The office is equipped to house four clinicians, with two currently assigned. The clinicians offer a wide variety of therapeutic services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, addiction therapy, and even therapy for children and adolescents. The office is also outfitted to provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). MAT is a combination of medication and behavioral therapy to help individuals break the cycle of addiction.

Many folks of the Del Norte community attended the open house to learn more and to show their support. Mayor Chirs Trujillo said, “The town is in full support of this facility and the services they offer. It will be a huge benefit to the community to have a full-time presence from behavioral health here in town, more so than what they were doing in partnership with the hospital. We are very happy to have them here to offer their services to the Del Norte community.”

Del Norte Police Chief Robert Fresquez added, “I was very happy to hear that they would be coming to Del Norte. Not only do they offer their MAT services to people struggling with addiction, but they offer support to family and friends as well. I highly recommend the community to take advantage of the services they offer. If people are willing, they can get the help they need here.”

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For questions, call 719.589.3671.
