One journey ends. Another begins.

ALAMOSA – In a press release that will undoubtedly bring great joy – and no small measure of relief – to the individuals and families living at Century Mobile Home Park, Dawn Melgares, executive director for the San Luis Valley Housing Coalition (SLVHC), issued a press release on Tuesday, announcing that the non-profit is under contract to purchase the mobile home park.

The announcement follows four months of intensive conversations, educational meetings, facilitation of homeowners deciding the path they choose to take in determining their own future and exhaustive outreach to community and municipal organizations garnering support for the project and the lives of those most impacted by the decision.

Melgares’ statement read:

“With the overwhelming support of the residents, board members, staff, lenders, elected officials, and our community, SLV Housing Coalition (SLVHC) is excited to announce that we are officially under contract to purchase the Century Mobile Home Park in Alamosa. SLVHC has held several meetings with residents to educate them on their rights under the Mobile Home Park Acts in Colorado and learn from them what their needs and preferences are moving forward. SLVHC has spoken with First Southwest Bank (FSWB), Impact Development Fund (IDF), CHFA, USDA, the City of Alamosa and other funders to determine the best path to make this transaction happen.

“We are excited to have found our path to move forward with this purchase and work with the sellers, lenders, residents, and our community to make this transition as smooth as possible. We hope everyone who lives at Century Mobile Home Park, homeowners and renters, will participate in upcoming resident meetings to help us prepare to take ownership of the park before year’s end. We know this transition will take everyone’s patience, time, and input to ensure the voices of the residents and SLVHC are heard moving forward. Please watch our Facebook page, the newspaper, and your door for additional information on upcoming resident meetings.”
