Snake-approved reading challenge

Alamosa Elementary students were given a reading challenge for the school year, with the losing school’s principal required to hold a snake at the end of the year! After passing a combined total of 93,280 AR (Accelerated Reader) tests, both the K-2 and 3-5 schools surpassed their reading goals. With a goal of 30,000 books, K-2 students completed 36,260 tests, and for 3-5 students, it was a 50,000 goal, surpassed with 56,787. K-2 Principal Lori Smith, shown, was the lucky “loser;” however, both principals Lori Smith and 3-5 Principal Christy McBee joined in the fun and held Ms. Sheba, the ball python on Wednesday afternoon.
