ALAMOSA — Thursday, August 30th, please join Society Hall, 400 Ross Avenue, Alamosa for an evening with Hiroya Tsukamoto, a guitarist extraordinaire and composer originally from Kyoto, Japan. 

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for this event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at www.societyhall.org, or at The Green Spot, 711 State Ave., Alamosa.

Hiroya Tsukamoto is a guitarist and composer originally from Kyoto, Japan. In 2000, Hiroya received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music (Boston) and came to the U.S. Hiroya formed his own group in Boston, “INTEROCEANICO (inter-oceanic)” which consists of unique musicians from different continents including Latin Grammy Colombian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three acclaimed records (“The Other Side of the World”, “Confluencia” and “Where the River Shines”.) Hiroya released two solo albums (“Heartland” and “Places”) from Japanese record label 333 discs. Since then, he has been performing internationally including several appearances with his group at Blue Note in New York. And he also performed and appeared on major televisions internationally such as NHK (Japanese National Television) and EBS in Korea.

Hiroya Tsukamoto takes us on an innovative, impressionistic journey filled with earthy, organic soundscapes that impart a mood of peace and tranquility. Hiroya plays his guitar with passion and warmth and has been zealously recommended by Jazz Review.com. Celine Keating, author of a review in Acoustic Guitar Magazine describes Hiroya as playing with a fluid mastery, pristine tone and great warmth. The Boston Herald describes Hiroya music as leading us on an impressionistic journey. Hiroya’s music is earthy, organic and a mixture of elements imported from diverse genres
