Somos Aqua mural on exhibit

SAGUACHE — Please join The Range on Friday, November 10th to celebrate Somos Aqua, a traveling silk mural dedicated to the water protectors.

The reception is from 6-8 p.m., with refreshments and music. The Range is an artist space located at 307 Fourth Street in downtown Saguache.

Somos Aqua (We are Water) is organized by Sisters of Color United for Education/Hermanas de Colores Unidas Para La Educación and inaugurated in

Saguache. The 65-foot long mural has more than 30 participating artists ages 4 through 74 from the communities of Saguache, Center, and Crestone. The mural was created in a workshop series on water, health equity, and the techniques of silk painting.

Somos Aqua will be on view through December 31st at the Range. The painting will then travel to other communities in the region for water protection collaboration across the San Luis Valley.

Special thanks to Belinda Garcia for bringing this unique project to life, to Jacquard for their generous donation of supplies, and to H.E.A.R.T. of Saguache/Lazy K.V., the Colorado Trust, and the Saguache County Tourism Council for their support of Somos Aqua.
