Southway returns from mission

ALAMOSA — Nicole Southway, daughter of Rocky and Trinette Southway, recently returned from serving an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Southway served in the Montevideo Uruguay Mission, a Spanish-speaking mission, which covers the eastern half of the South American country. Southway is a 2015 graduate from Alamosa High School.

Southway reports that her mission was a successful experience. She loved the cultural experiences and the many new foods she discovered.  She was able to meet and work with many people, whom she developed a great love. The Uruguayans are such good, kind people and willing to sacrifice their happiness for that of others. Nicole loves the people and would not trade her experience with them for anything.

Nicole’s testimony of the Lord grew while serving the Uruguayan people. While she helped people learn to trust the Lord, her own trust and confidence grew. She served the people any way she could and helped them as they made changes in their lives. Southway benefited in the power of prayer as she learned the language; noting nothing is impossible with the help of the Lord. .

Nicole’s future plans include helping others as she seeks a career in nursing. She is currently attending BYU-Idaho and continuing perfecting her skills in the Spanish language.
