Spiral Drive Run in Salida

SALIDA — The annual Spiral Drive Run will take place in Salida on Saturday April 20 at 9 a.m. Runners will climb 2 miles and over 500 vertical feet up Salida’s iconic Tenderfoot “S” Mountain on a dirt road, before looping the summit and returning down to the start.

All finishers receive a special commemorative award. The first place male and female finishers will receive an award from Altra Running, and the first place female and male Salida residents will also receive awards.

The run is limited to 100 participants, and early registration is encouraged.   The $14 registration fee ($9 for Running Club members) increases after April 7.

Participants have 80 minutes to complete the course.

Visit chaffeerunning.org to register and for more information. Registration is also available in person at 7000 feet Running Company in Salida.

All-Valley Track Meet

ALAMOSA — Alamosa Parks & Recreation invites all boys and girls, ages 7-14, to compete in the annual All-Valley Track Meet at the Alamosa High School Stadium on May 1, 2019. Skills and Home Runs

ALAMOSA — Major League Baseball is coming to Alamosa. Local youth have the chance to participate in two competitions at the Sunset Memorial Park in Alamosa. May 11th at 10 a.m. Geoff West of the Pilots Baseball Academy will host two separate competitions, the Pitch, Hit & Run and the Junior Home Run Derby.

The Pitch, Hit & Run skills challenge will split into four different age divisions 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, and 13/14 while the Home Run Derby will be  divided into 12U and 14U. Both local competitions will afford the chance to advance through multiple levels of competition to the National Finals during MLB All Star Week.

Participants must bring valid birth documentation and have parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to competition. For questions or free pitching and hitting lessons please contact Geoff West at 719-937-9031
