Roller Derby Bootcamp
ALAMOSA — Come join the pack. SLV Roller Derby will be hosting another Roller Derby Bootcamp. Starting July 10th camp will be held every Tuesday for 8 weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the multipurpose pavilion (ice rink) at the Alamosa Recreational Center.  The cost is $50. Don’t have gear? No problem; we have gear to loan out. You will learn the basics of roller skating and how to play roller derby. You must be 18 or older to participate.  Please send a message to the team’s Facebook page for more information on the training and how to join the team.

Hunting Heritage Dinner
ALAMOSA — The first annual Hunting Heritage Dinner will take place at the Rodeway Inn in Alamosa on September 1 at 5 p.m. The dinner is hosted by the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, whose goals are conservation efforts and preservation through awareness and contributions from the public. Mellow Yellow Run
ALAMOSA — The Mellow Yellow Lemon Run is a fundraising endeavor for enrichment programs for Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) in Alamosa, CO. On Labor Day Monday Sept. 3rd Cole Park in Alamosa will see family fun and games as well as all manner of runs. From a Kid's 3K all the way up to a 12.2K. Prizes include top finishers and 'Best Dressed Lemon Runner'. Registration fees range from $5 to $40. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so in recognition of this, CCA decided to donate 50% of the profits from all sponsorships and racer registrations towards this cause.
