Rudy Sanchez decided to burn some trash Monday morning, but the wind caught it and set fire to his fence line, along with items in the yard. He tried to put it out, but didn’t have the water, so the fire department had to be called. Here, members of the Alamosa Volunteer Fire Department work to ensure that the fire is completely out. Fire Chief Don Chapman said wildfires often begin with a small burn and reminded residents that open burning is not allowed in the city limits.
