MONTE VISTA — Support is growing for the Friends of Ski Hi Park.

The San Luis Valley Ski Hi Stampede Committee has officially committed $50,000 to the initiative dedicated to the renovation of Ski Hi Park. This significant donation has added to the growing funds for the project. Last week, the Board of Directors also presented a check to Friends of Ski Hi in the amount $18,900 in funds originally given to the board by the Magnolia Society.

Karla Shriver of Friends of Ski noted that the Stampede Committee is among many local entities and individuals that have stepped forward to raise support for the initiative because they want to see the project happen for the greater good of the community.

Rio Grande Savings and Loan, Alamosa State Bank, San Luis Valley Bank and the Monte Vista Cooperative have also helped lead the way in raising matching funds so that the project will have a viable path to obtaining additional grant monies. The SLV Ski Hi Stampede Committee Board of Directors have expressed full support for the mission of Friends of Ski-Hi. Its members consider it to be vital to the future of not only one of the Valley’s premier events, but the future Rio Grande County and the region, as well.
